Ghost Release New Single - Square Hammer - Ahead Of Brand New Surprise EP, Entitled 'Popestar'9/12/2016 Swedish occult-rockers, Ghost, have just sent a Nameless Ghoul on a visit to Sirius XM's Octane station in order release an exclusive brand new single, entitled 'Square Hammer' for their forthcoming EP - Popestar - which is expected to be released this Friday, on September 16th - the same day their North American Popestar 2016 tour begins. Ghost will be returning to the US and Canada one more, starting this Friday going through November. These guys made their debut in 2010, playing tons of European Summer festivals. Since then, they have been non-stop touring North American and the UK, with the exception of recording an album/EP every couple of years. Their breakthrough amongst the Heavy Metal community came with their 2013 sophomore album, Infestissumam. Because it featured so many hits (Year Zero, Secular Haze, Monstrance Clock) and they had been working hard at developing a North American fanbase, they suddenly became the biggest thing since sliced bread. Die-hard fans, calling ourselves "children of the clergy" began popping up left, right and centre! They even won their first grammy at the beginning of the year for their Meliora single, 'He is'. This band is most easily recognizeable by their captivating image. 6 members. 5 Nameless Ghouls - whom are only distinguishable by the symbols on their robes and the instruments they play; all wearing the same mask. Their leader and frontman, Papa Emeritus is a character who resembles a skeleton Pope. He's very charming! A refreshing and curious take on many stage identities we have seen before (think KISS or Misfits). Each album cycle, a new Papa is introduced. With this rumoured EP release, fans are speculating about the introduction of Papa Emeritus IV. Ghost are a force to be reckoned with. I have been lucky enough to meet these lovely guys and see them in the States and right here in Toronto. They put on a hell of a show and play some fantastic music. I would recommend them to absolutely any music fan, because they don't only play Metal - Square Hammer proves this statement. Think a mixture of the 1980s, Goth Rock, Doom Metal and even Synthpop. They have a very unique and addicting sound. If you're local, they'll be stopping by the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Wednesday, November 9th. Tickets are pretty few and far between at this point, but this is a show you do NOT want to miss!
